Pure Blissful Brutality

I'm back from an absence of what surely felt like an eternity, and the first post most definitely will be the undeniable titans of Death Core.

THY ART IS MURDER

The brand new master piece Dear Desolation is a pure deathcore enthusiast’s wet dream. Everything one can imagine from the genre’s defining usage of blast beats and iconic breakdowns takes place. Vocalist CJ McMahon brings forth a vocalization that feels like a time machine, the guttural energy of his voice bringing back the feeling of those old school deathcore albums. These qualities appear in abundance in the record’s first single “Slaves Beyond Death”. McMahon’s voice bursts out before a metallic barrage of drums and blast beats. Playing alongside a dense and churning guitar rhythm, the track shifts into a dark melody that injects some flavor, setting forth a joyful chaotic flow. “The Son Of Misery” reflects this style, building on varying shifts in tempo throughout the progression. You either get the assault of speedy guitar tones that give off wicked vibes, or slower elements that vibrate with auras of gloom. As one of the LP’s standout tracks, “Puppet Master” is a straight up banger. Ripping tempos meet aggressive instrumentation that let loose a savage energy.

Symphonic Injected Hatred

So, for the next installment of All Things Maedia, I figured I would throw in a little Symphonic/Black Metal into the mix just to keep things interesting.

                                                         SHADE EMPIRE

Shade Empire, hailing from one of the birth places of metal, Finland! A few years ago while searching for some good symphonic stuff I stumbled upon these titans. Though their popularity is not high, they make up for it with quality and insanity. Their music is a fine mix of Symphonic/Black/Industrial/Melodeath that sometimes borders on the edge of Trance even. While listening to them, I have often found myself drifting off in their heavy mind-numbing bliss of utter METAL. Unspeakably brutal guitar patterns, multi-layered and yet beautiful synth walls, ingenious arrangements combined with electronics, devastating drum parts, complex bass assaults and the unique vocals coming straight from the deep pits of Hell itself! My list of favorites is long, brutal, and steeped full of blood.. and these guys are definately at the top. They are currently going under a label change and could probably use all the help they can get. As per the usual I will list a video or two to get you started, their album "Intoxicate O.S." is a masterpiece within itself, and I beseech you to purchase it at once! If you're feeling generous head over to their site and show them some support. Shade Empire

ODIN GUIDE OUR SHIPS!

So I was wandering through the vast wasteland known as my Maedia file, and figured next up should be the most hardcore Viking mother fuckers known to man, AMON AMARTH!

Amon Amarth have been raping and pillaging the metal scene for damn near 20 years now, they are considered the forefather's of Viking/Death metal for good reason. Their battle-steeped songs are nothing less than epic masterpieces cultivated from their heroic Norsemen forefathers. They take their material straight from ODIN himself, proclaiming their well-deserved place in Viking and Death metal history. They have released several albums over the years that have more than adequately destroyed everything it touched, but my personal favorite would have to be "With Oden On Our Side". Words cannot describe the brutality of this album, it is track after track of war fueled tremelo MAYHEM. If you're looking to depart on an adventure, and slay your foes without mercy, without even leaving your seat these guys are a MUST HAVE! I will put some links here for your listening pleasure. If you find that these guys are kicking your ass, visit their site, and for fuck's sake BUY THEIR SHIT! Amon Amarth

More metal for the masses.

Next up on my list of Metal badassery: BEHEMOTH

Behemoth have been around for quite some time, entertaining the masses with their demon-possessed blackened death metal. They have been through many transitions over the years, starting out as black metal, and progressing with each album towards a heavier more brutal type of music. Behemoth's music is among some of metal's most meaningful. Every song and every lyric has some true meaning to the band. Such personal ties to their work drives them to consistently put out the highest quality music, which has put them at the top of the modern metal world. With their recent album "Evangelion" they do not disappoint, their musicianship is still as brutal and relentless as ever. Unlike my previous post about TPH, Behemoth has several extremely brutal music videos, I will link a couple here to showcase their insanity, aswell as a couple songs for you to feast upon. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Visit their site and show them support! Behemoth

The start of all things Maedia!

So, I created this blog to review, rant, and support "Maedia" that influence me.

To start off I would like to show you a few things that I've been into lately. You will notice that most of the Maedia I listen to/watch are affiliated with metal and such. So obviously if you aren't a fan of metal this is not the place for you!

For the past few years this band "The Project Hate MCMXCIX" has highly influenced my musical tastes and I have very much grown to like their style. They are an extremely underrated band, and I feel like they aren't mentioned enough. Although they are an anti-religion oriented band, I would like to point out that most of my likings are more of the feel of their music. They are knee-deep in death metal goodness, with a touch of techno to give it a nice mix. The angelic female vocals (they have gone through a few female singers over the years) add a haunting reverence of good to them, whereas their male vocalist J, adds a fucking demonic force to be reckoned with. There is no proper way to describe their sound so I will throw up some links here for you from their best album (in my opinion) of some of their works on youtube.
